Charles F. Thiel

Charles F. Thiel 81, of Janesville, WI passed away Friday, July 25, 2014 at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. He was born on February 15, 1933 in Lancaster, WI, the son of Fredrick and Alma (Cliff) Thiel. He attended schools in Lancaster and after the family moved to Janesville he attended Wilson Elementary School and graduated from Janesville High School. Chuck was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Shirley A. Vine on January 31,1953. He was employed by General Motors for 30 years. Following his retirement, he and Shirley enjoyed spending many winters in Texas and Arizona. Chuck enjoyed woodworking and camping. He was also well known as a person who enjoyed kidding and teasing his friends and relatives. He was proud of being an “amateur chef.” In recent years, as Shirley’s health failed, Chuck became her loving care giver.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Thiel, two daughters, Ginny Allbee and Patty (Michael) Thiele both of Janesville, three grandchildren, Chris (Tara) Boyette, Charlie (Brianne) Allbee, Tracy (Jeff) Mace, six great-grandchildren, Jake Boyette, Josh Boyette, Braden Mace, Leila Mace, Emily Allbee, Nicholas Allbee, his sister, Noreen Dulin, numerous other relatives and friends. His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville. Bruce Martin, retired Navy Chaplain will officiate. Burial will follow in Milton Lawns Memorial Park with military rites by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.
